Vacuum Latch Release Valves

Used to latch and hold vacuum within the suction cup until a positive pressure signal operates a pilot valve, causing the vacuum to dissipate and release the part. If the vacuum source is inadvertently removed, or temporarily lost, a time delay is produced by latching the existing vacuum which allows time for the load to be safely lowered. The duration of delay will be determined by several factors including condition of the cups and work surface. An auxiliary port is provided so a volume chamber can be added to increase the delay time over what the internal volume of the suction cup provides.

A 40 to 60 psi air signal is required for the 2 –way pilot operated release valve and pilot lines may be daisy chained from one air solenoid valve since air flow is minimal. A separate 1/8” port can be left open to atmosphere for an atmospheric vacuum release, or provided with a 20 to 60 psi constant air supply for a pressurized blow-off.

By designing the VLR into a one-piece body and attaching it directly to the suction cup, we have eliminated all tubing and fittings and their associated potential leak points. Competitive products have inconsistent part release due to blow-off air following the path of least resistance to the first check valve that cracks open, so higher air supply pressures are used to try and compensate. Our pilot operated release valves can eliminate that inconsistency and wasted energy by using atmospheric air or low pressure air to positively release all cups simultaneously.

The VLR is available as an option for any EDCO 75mm, 110mm, or 150mm suction cup with ½” fitting and will be sold only as an assembly with the cup so it can be properly tested by EDCO before shipment. Add suffix “-VLR” to cup model number.
