Vacuum Suction Cup Valves
Although they all operate in different capacities, vacuum suction cup valves effectively assist in limiting the amount of vacuum that is lost within material transfer applications. EDCO offers the following types of vacuum cup valves for your project needs:
Dual-flow valves limit vacuum leakage in a system where some of the vacuum cups
may not be in sealing contact with the workpiece. Since vacuum flow is limited by a small orifice, dual-flow valves
are only recommended for non-porous, light-weight workpieces. When the valve is closed, an orifice limits the amount of leakage into the vacuum system to a manageable level.
Tri-flow valves limit vacuum leakage in systems where some of the vacuum suction pads may not be in sealing contact with the workpiece. Tri-flow valves
are a cross between a flow sensor valve and a dual-flow valve that remains fully open until the flow sensor section closes at the factory preset vacuum flow rate. When the valve is closed, an orifice limits the amount of leakage into the vacuum system to a manageable level.
Flow Sensor Valves
Flow sensor valves
are normally open valves that snap closed when the factory preset flow rate is exceeded. Our flow sensor valves are insensitive to acceleration forces and may be used in any physical orientation. System vacuum level has no effect on set point, however, high system vacuum levels will cause greater flow rates through a porous workpiece.
are leak elimination valves that are used in conjunction with medium sized (30 – 50 mm) flat vacuum cups
in systems having a central pump. Cone valves seal off vacuum suction cups that are not in contact with a workpiece to limit the amount of leakage that is caused by cups not in sealing contact. The workpiece must be rigid enough to actuate the valve stem.
Mechanical valves are used with a bellows style vacuum cup in systems having a central vacuum pump
and an array of vacuum cups to pick up a family of workpieces that vary by known values of width or length. Mechanical valves
are used to seal off cups that are not directly over a workpiece to limit leakage into the vacuum system since these cups are not sealing.
Release Check Valves
Release check valves utilize a normally closed valve to seal against pump vacuum
without leaking. When a compressed air supply is applied, the release valve shifts to open at only 5 psi (0.3 bar) so that a full-flow burst of air can quickly dissipate (blow-off) system vacuum.
Vacuum Check Valves
Vacuum check valves
are designed trap vacuum within a cup to avoid dropping a non-porous workpiece when the vacuum source is lost. The valve provides a time delay so the workpiece can be set down safely. To dissipate trapped vacuum, use vacuum check valves with release check valves.
